Summary

WARNING!! MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!

Myrthen

Myrthen was the title of a collection of 26 poems for voice and piano, written by Schumann for his wife Clara on the occasion of their wedding. This is a love story of the younger days of famous piano composer Richard Schumann and his wife Clara Schumann. A passionate performance from Misato Kei in her first lead role.

Robert Schumann was apprenticed to Friedrich Wieck, Clara's father, aiming to become a pianist. However, when he injures his fingers, so necessary for a pianist, he becomes a piano composer instead.

Schumann becomes a famous pianist alongside Liszt and Mendelssohn, and then he falls in love with beautiful, 16-year-old Clara.

Wieck is pessimistic about Schumann's prospects as a composer, and is not willing to put his Clara and her dreams under his care, so he vehemently opposes their marriage.

However, his opposition only strengthens their resolve.

In his rage, Wieck brings a lawsuit against their marriage....
