The End of the Surging Waves
The Muromachi Period. Local Commissioner of Kyushu, Shibukawa Sadamitsu, has been having trouble with pirates who act as if they own the sea. A particularly hot-blooded one is Shisa Gorou, whose clan is from Iki Island. One day he engages the Ming Empire navy and destroys them in an instant. At the same time, he captured the daughter of the Ming general, Yilan, and commissioned officer HaiFeng.
Yilan bears hatred for Gorou killing her father, and looks for a chance to gain revenge with HaiFeng. One night on the ship she gets close to Gorou and pulls out a sword, but instead he twists her arm and admonishes her to leave life and death up to fate and that she will be returned home.
Yilan tells Gorou that the Ming Emperor has sent reward money to the Japanese navy generals for the destruction of the pirates. That night, Gorou sends a note saying that he will surrender at the commissioner's office. On his way there, he sets Yilan and HaiFeng free. Yilan is taken with his magnanimous heart, and shakes off HaiFeng so that she can follow after Gorou.
At the commissioner's office where Gorou was awaited, he is assigned the task of going to Ming along with the merchant TianLi in disguise as servants of the Shogun.
Gorou sets sail immediately, but soon a black ship appears, with Yilan standing on deck. Although Yilan simply wanted to be with Gorou, HaiFeng used that to achieve his revenge.
And Gorou's ship burns....
