Two Demons and Princess Kagero
Spring is in full bloom. People in Kyoto are bustling down the main thoroughfare that is festooned with flowers. Lured by these humans, the demons Shuten-dōji and Ibaraki-dōji come down from the mountains into the fields. These two demons are aiming to get Princess Kagerou who lives in Fukakusa.
Daughter of a monk of Fukakusa, Princess Kagerou is beautiful. Her mother Yomogi insists that her daughter marry Kasugano Chuujou Sanemaro. Knowing this, the two demons have decided to take the princess for their own bride.
However, Princess Kagerou already has a beloved. His name is Sabanokami Minamoto no Yorimitsu. The two demons attempt to take this only daughter, whose mother has such high expectations of and whose father the monk does not wish to give away to anyone.
Another unexpected player is the cat demoness Chuunagon Kitanokata, who wants the Chuujou to marry one of her three daughters. In order for Yorimitsu and Princess Kagerou to see their love fulfilled, Yorimitsu's retainers support him. With all of these characters having hidden agendas, the chaos soon begins to spread.
