A dramatic musical written by Shibata Yukihiro, based on the full-length novel by literary master Stendahl. It was first performed by Moon Troupe in 1975 as "My Love Is My Life" (re-titled "The Red and the Black" for the Tokyo run) starring Dai Takiko, re-worked as a Moon Troupe Bow Hall in 1989 starring Suzukaze Mayo, and revived in 2008 by Star Troupe at Theater Drama City starring Aran Kei — all productions have earned high praise.
