Beauty from a Demon

From the English program:

At the Miyako (or Kyoto) in the 8th century. Kino Haseo, a court noble, was a talented player of the shogi (a kind of chess) and there was none in the country who could compare with him in the skill of the game. However he had a weak point; he was a man who would not be liked by womenfolk. On a certain day, a pretty girl called at his residence. She said: “My father is very fond of the Shogi and he has never been beaten by anybody in the game. He is very anxious to compete with you in the game of Shogi. In case he is overcome, he will present you with anything of your choice”.

At once, Haseo had with her father a game of shogi. He won it. He, according to the promise, demanded that his daughter be given over to him, whereupon he, the father, was at once transformed into a demon. Haseo was not disturbed. He insisted that the daughter be given over as his bride. He said that he did not mind his she was a demon’s daughter.

The demon, the daughter’s father, said: “Now that you insist so eagerly on taking my daughter, all right, I will consent to giving her away to you. Only, bear this isn mind; in order that she is completely made into a human, you are never to touch even a finger on her body for one hundred days from now”.

Haseo took the girl to his residence to wait for one hundred days to pass along. On the very last da, however, he found it impossible to bear it up any longer. He touched her body when, lo! She was transfigured into a demon.
