Snow Woman
A dance drama set in Echigo (former name of Niigata Prefecture).
Spring in the capital (Kyoto). The streets are bustling with people happy for spring. Saburou, a man who has come to Kyoto to study, and the beautiful Yuki are in love.
However, this spring when Saburou comes of age, he must return to his hometown in Echigo to become a government official. The two are sad about their parting, and make a joint vow that in three years they will be living together in Echigo.
The agreed upon three years pass; in a rush five years have flown by, but no matter how much time passes, Saburou does not come for Yuki.
In Echigo Province. Saburou, who has become an outstanding young man, had held true to his promise to Yuki, but the flow of time is a fearful thing, and a chance meeting with Kaede, the daughter of the village headman, catches his heart.
Yuki journeys from distant Kyoto to Saburou's house, where she goes unnoticed by everyone bustling about preparing for Saburou and Kaede's wedding ceremony.
Yuki wants to see Saburou, and asks him if the promise they exchanged had been his true feelings, but when she is driven away without a chance to see him, she realizes she has been betrayed.
On the other hand, Saburou has no idea that Yuki came to see him, and is able to marry Kaede without disruption, and become very happy.
That night, a strange wind blows into Saburou's room, and the Snow Woman's form appears. Saburou takes his sword in hand and tries to cut her, but when he realizes it is Yuki, he begs her forgiveness.
But Saburou has been bewitched by the Snow Woman, and disappears, wandering over the fields of snow....
Pollyanna's Smile
America in the 1890s.
Pollyanna's parents have passed away, and she leaves her home in Atlanta to live with her Aunt Polly, her only remaining blood relative.
Seeing how heart-broken she is to be going to Minnesota, her childhood friend Jimmy stows away on the train with her. When they arrive, Aunt Polly's huge house seems like something out of a dream.
But Aunt Polly wants nothing to do with her niece, and puts her in a room up in the attic of her three-floor home. But Pollyanna is always chipper, and plans to make the room beautiful.
No matter how badly Aunt Polly treats her, Pollyanna spends her days pleasantly with the maid Nancy and Old Tom the handyman who love her.
When she goes to her new school, Pollyanna makes new friends, but she is most happy to see Jimmy. Jimmy is doing odd gardening jobs for Old Tom for food.
This is the tale of how Pollyanna leads everyone around her to happiness.
