Great Expectations, a masterpiece by British literary great Charles Dickens, has been filmed many times, and was performed by the Takarazuka Revue's Moon Troupe in 1990, making it an immortal masterpiece that continues to be loved all over the world. We will deliver a new musical piece that tells the story of Pip's growth through a life full of ups and downs.
A rural area near the Thames Estuary in England in the early 19th century. Pip, an orphan who was taken in by his sister's married blacksmith, is invited by Miss Havisham, who lives in a nearby mansion, to play with his adopted daughter Estella. Pip is attracted to the arrogant but beautiful Estella and desires to become a gentleman worthy of her, but soon begins to work as a blacksmith under her brother-in-law. Several years later, Pip suddenly receives news that he has been named heir to a huge fortune. Pip bids farewell to his hometown and sets off for London to become a gentleman. What awaits him as he enjoys a dream-like life that is completely different from his life in the countryside...
