2003/01/28 Moon Troupe: 龍真咲 Ryuu Masaki
The Name of Takarasienne II: Sharing a Legend of Good Fortune

"Ryuu" was from her mother, who likes journeying to waterfalls, and "Masaki" was her own idea.

Masaki has a nice sound, and it's a name I thought I would like to give to my child if I have one in the future. "Ryu" is mysterious and there are many legends about people becoming happy and having wishes come true when they see a dragon. As a performer, I want to be a person who brings joy to others.

A young otokoyaku whose popularity is climbing rapidly. She gave a good performance in her second shinjin kouen lead for the currently running "A Magician's Misfortunes". She plays Sandor, a magician who is trying to find out the truth about the death of the crown princess of a certain country.

It's a very masculine role with affectation and presence. For the Tokyo performance, I'd like to project more of the nuance of the magician.

Her desire is to raise her acting skills up a rank.

As a girl she loved singing, and she saw her first Takarazuka performance while in elementary school. She took the entrance exams while a senior high school student and passed the first time.

Her hatsubutai was "The Rose of Versailles" in 2001. She was placed into Moon Troupe, and her first performance with the troupe was "Great Pirates" in Tokyo, and as early as that she was given the shinjin koen role of David. Just about everything was drilled into me, and my life in Takarazuka began.

In 2005 she had an eminent role in the "Elisabeth" shinjin kouen — Rudolph. She had her first lead role in 2006, RYU in "Young Bloods!!"

It was a performance that I could only do at that time. I gave it all my might.

Her first shinjin kouen lead was the following year, 2007, when she played Armand in "Higher Than the Sky of Paris". The year before she had played Brutus, the role of Moon Troupe's top, Sena Jun, in "Rome at Dawn".

Asako-san is beyond amazing. She's someone I really respect, and I'm learning a lot from her.

This next performance will be her last shinjin kouen.

These seven years have gone by in the blink of an eye. Naturally I'm giving it my all, and the underclassmen are sweet and I want to teach them everything, she says, fully self-conscious that she is becoming an upperclassman. I'm interested in acting, and it's fun to be able to completely turn into your role. I also really like onnayaku roles done by otokoyaku, and a role I really yearn for is Elisabeth.

T Note: I'm not 100% certain on the connection between "ryū" (龍) and "takimeguri" ( 滝巡り), except that the base of 滝 is 竜, which is another way of writing "dragon" (龍). Dragons also seem to be tied into some stories of waterfalls, and there are quite a few waterfalls with 龍 in their name. If you have any better ideas, I'm all ears! ;)
