The setting is the beginning of the 20th century, a time of fierce competition for building passenger ships that could cross the Atlantic. From a young age, Thomas Andrews has always dreamed of building big ships. Joining the company Harland and Wolff, his appreciation for the trade deepens as he passionately becomes involved in ship building.
One day, Ismay, the chairman of the British shipping company White Star Line announces his intention to build the most luxurious passenger ship in the world. Seeing this as the big chance to change his life, Thomas is determined to stake everything on helping to realize this dream.
“When I was younger, I promised Helen that we would voyage together on a ship that I would build, should we meet a second time. Now that this delightful reunion has finally come to pass, my dream has not changed a bit,” Thomas passionately explains. Over time Thomas and Helen’s youthful passion has changed into love. As he collects ideas for realizing the most luxurious passenger ship in the world, Thomas is pursuing an ideal. Striving to stay true to that, which is most important to him, Thomas begins to harbor doubts…
This magnificent musical romance depicts the life of Thomas Andrews, a singular man who chases after love and dreams, Helen’s love and the human bonds of his fellow men, as he works to build the world’s greatest passenger ship, the Titanic. Furthermore, this production will be Director and Playwrite Nakamura Mao’s Bow Hall debut.
