The time is the flourishing of the splendid Edo Culture. A well-loved man named Hosoishi Kuranosuke, called the "Heir of Basara", lived in a tenement house in Honsho. Kuranosuke is a descendant of Sasaki Douyo, a founder of the Muramachi Shogunate, who had been called the "Basara Daimyo" (Lord of Indulgence) because of his ties to the arts and entertainment. Kuranosuke was born the second son of the master of the Sasaki clan, which governs the town of Azuchi in Gamou, Oumi, but because of his mother's low social status, he was not able to take the family name. However, Kuranosuke is extraordinarily talented, and runs a school to teach neighborhood children scholarship, swordsmanship, poetry, and the tea ceremony. As expected, he was the pride of the neighborhood because of his blood ties to Douyo.

Filled with a sense of justice, Kuranosuke would do things like strike back at the Hashimoto, who threw their weight around because they were backed by the shogunate. At any rate, he was a popular man with a good reputation, yet he sometimes felt lonely because of the abandonment of his father. And then a rumor came that Kuranosuke would ruin the Sasaki clan....

Todoroki Yuu brings to life on the stage the turbulent and exhilarating life of this man.
