Act One: Wandering Stardust

1974. Leningrad, USSR. The Kirov Ballet Company has a prominent soloist, Mikhail Cherinka, whose form is beautiful and graceful. The applause after his performances is unending. He and the company will soon be setting out on a national tour, but the other members of his company sense something is wrong with him. In fact, Mikhail has a secret plan.... to flee his country.

He plans to go to America, where he can be free, although it means leaving behind his beloved wife and son. No one knows where he has gone, and Cherinka waits for a while patiently in Canada before going to fulfill his dream... on Broadway.
