Nun Rengetsu
The Bakumatsu Period. A Zen priest comes to a tea house to meet with the nun Rengetsu. There is a rumor that Rengetsu was loyal to the emperor before she became a nun, and the Zen priest is not merely a priest. And a very dubious man is following the Zen priest....
The Oil Jar
The Sicilian landowner Don Roruro breaks an oil jar. The repairman Deema tries to enter the jar to fix it, but can't because of his hunchback. Various people try to help him and only break the jar further. A bucolic comic ballet.
The Merry Prayer
A hall with a spiritual sword. A daimyo lord arrives in search of his destiny and purchases a lamp from a lamp seller before entering. The lamp-sellers wife gives thanks because without the hall there would be no livelihood for her family, and so they give a merry prayer dance.
The Eternal Waltz
Austria. Fanny is promised to Leopold, but as fallen for her piano teacher (Strauss Jr.). Strauss wants to come out from his famous father's shadow, and one day he writes music commissioned by a countess which is a huge success. Fanny gives up on him and marries Leopold.
