In current New York, the gangster J Boy got in trouble as he gets chased by his female boss he is involved with.
When he uses the key, that the suddenly appeared Mister X gave him, to open a door, it leads him to the New York of 80 years ago.

He starts to work at a club called Limelight. Other employees there are Lovely, director, choreograph and manager, the star dancer Belle, the singer Terry, the comedians Saint and Clark, the dancers Cecil and Johnny as well as the amateur dancer Millie.
But while the club is stuck in the red, the property shark Miss Fine tries to get her hands on it, always accompanied by her underlings Thomas and Kyabi.
