Fan Club

Hello.

I would like to know if it is possible to a foreigner to become member of a Takarazuka star fan club.
Do you know if there is any foreigner in any fan club nowadays?

Thanks in advance,
Osa

PD: I miss Osa so so much!!!

Hi,

You might also be able to do it by writing to her and asking if you might join. She's listed as a member of PRODUCTIONS, and you could probably address fan letters to her care of the Umeda Arts Theater:

Hikaru Asami
c/o PRODUCTIONS, Umeda Geijutsu Gekijou
Kita-ku, Chaya-machi 19-1
Osaka-shi 530-0013
JAPAN

I did some brief googling, and it looks like there's no way to join Asami Hikaru's OG fanclub online, assuming she has one. Probably the only way is to attend demachi at one of her shows and speak to her staff members there, or to get someone to do that for you.

A couple months ago I wrote to Ryouga Haruhi asking to join her fanclub even though I live overseas; I heard back a while later from her daihyou saying yes, of course. :) (The mail is ungodly slow though; I looked at the postmark and the daihyou responded to me almost immediately, but the letter took nearly a month to arrive here...)
Anyway, I did find out that Washington Mutual will let you do free overseas wire transfers. (Checking accounts with them are free.) The only trouble is that, near as I can tell, Mitsubishi-UFJ will charge them 2500 yen to accept the wire. I didn't realize this until after I'd sent the transfer (which I still find mortifying), but if you're willing to cover that fee then it was a pretty problem-free transaction.

I think I know one person who is trying to apply for Ayana Oto's fan club but I could be mistaken on this one...

I agree with pretty much everything Kitsune32. I'm a member of Seijou Kaito's club and know others who are members of clubs (Including those of Nanaho Hikaru, Mizu Natsuki, Yamato Yuuga, Daigo Seshiru, Yuzuki Reon, Aran Kei, Hanakage Arisu, Sakurano Ayane, Sagiri Seina, Houshou Dai and I'm sure Im missing some *edits* also Ryuu Masaki and Ayami Haya).

In my case, a friend asked the club staff after demachi for an application for me. I know that in once case, someone wrote to the star saying that she wanted to join her fanclub and an application was mailed to her!

The biggest challenge I've found, actually, is making payments since I'm not able to do international bank transfers without paying something ridiculous like $50. I'm lucky that I live in a large city in the US, currently, and have access to currency exchange places where I can get cash to mail (keep in mind that this is at your own risk!)

My suggestion is, if you get an application, to discretely include a few extra yen to help cover the extra cost of mailing. If you ask if it's necessary, the club wil most likely say it's not, but it's probably a good idea to do it if only to make things easier on them.

Yes, it's definitely possible. I'm a member of Kiriya Hiromu's fan club and I know a number of other foreigners who are in the fanclubs for various stars.

Distance seems to be the biggest impediment to joining. The only real way to join a fan club as far as I can figure out is to talk to the club while they're doing demachi. Sometimes the logistics can be difficult, but I think on principal at least the majority of clubs allow foreigners to join.
