"Image of Sumire Haruno" ruined?!

Sena: I was thinking, maybe I want to talk to you again soon (laughs).

Haruno: What's with that light attitude? (laughs).

Sena: (laughs). It's already been a year since you called on me for "Let's Talk Passionately," and normally we don't really have the chance to talk, so I went ahead and appropriated this corner (laughs).

Haruno: (laughs).

Sena: Also, since you seemed like you wanted me to call on you and all (laughs).

Haruno: Oh really? (laughs).

Sena: Yup (laughs). Ok then, shall we start with a report on how you've been getting along? How have you been lately?

Haruno: What is that (laughs). Let's see, lately ... ... ... I've been feeling pretty fresh (laughs).

Sena: Ms. Haruno is always fresh though (laughs).

Haruno: (laughs). How have you been? Anything up?

Sena: Lately?... ... Now that you mention it, the other day, you called me in the middle of the night. You said something like, "There's something I want to ask." Because of that call, my internal "Image of Ms. Sumire Haruno" collapsed (laughs).

Haruno: Surely it wasn't that serious!!

Sena: It was serious! To me! (laughs). That was the day before the party to celebrate the award our theater teacher won... .

Haruno: Right, right (laughs). When I called it was less than 24 hours before the party, wasn't it (laughs).

Sena: Yes. You said, "There's something I want to ask" about a song called "One Heart" that Ms. Todoroki and the top combis of all five troupes were going to sing. And I thought, "Masa-chan will definitely perfect it before coming!" and rehearsed desperately. Then, it's the middle of the night before the party. You call me, right?
Haruno: (laughs).

Sena: "Hey, I don't really understand this (musical score); where are we supposed to sing?" you say (laughs).

Haruno: Even though it's tomorrow (laughs).

Sena: It's like, "Uh, the perfect Ms. Sumire Haruno is asking where to sing?!" (laughs). It was shocking (laughs).

Haruno: Because on the score, it wasn't clearly written how you should sing where (laughs).

Sena: (quietly) But it was properly written there, wasn't it.

Haruno: (laughs).

Sena: On the day of, you got to the meeting place early, and a strangely dependent-feeling text message came. It was like, "Come quick. Masa-chan" (laughs). You're not supposed to call yourself "Masa-chan" (laughs).

Haruno: I was lonely by myself (laughs). Speaking of text messages, I sent you one on your birthday, but... . Oh, I left a message on your answering machine too, but... .

Sena: I'm sorry (laughs). It was the last day of performances, so it was hectic (laughs). That night, as soon as I had time, I called you to say thank you, but it was already late, and you didn't pick up... . Well, I thought it would probably show that I had called so I thought it would be ok (laughs).

Haruno: Oh, I wonder if it showed that you called.

Sena: Oh, come on! (laughs).

Haruno: Well if you couldn't get ahold of me on the phone, couldn't you have replied to the text message? (laughs).

Sena: Now that you mention it, I didn't reply, did I (laughs). Even though I was happily telling everyone in Moon Troupe, "I got a happy birthday message from Sumire Haruno!"... .

Haruno: You didn't reply (laughs).

Sena: But while we're on the subject, even though I sent you a text message before my dinner show saying, "Dear Ms. Sumire Haruno, if you have the time please come and watch," you still haven't replied to it! (laughs)

Haruno: Only those kind (laughs). It's rare that I don't reply (laughs).

Sena: (laughs). We're both busy and all, huh. Even if there's no reply, you understand the other person's feelings so it's ok (laughs).

Haruno: Yeah, exactly (laughs). Hey, normally, wouldn't this already be over with? (laughs). Even if you're abandoned, you can't complain, ok? (laughs)

Sena: Normally... ... yeah, you're right (laughs).

Because we were young?

Haruno: Lately, people have been telling me, "Instead of 'Osa' we used to call you 'Mosa' [brave man]."

Sena: What?!

Haruno: Was I really the kind of underclassman who wasn't afraid of anything? I think the reason people say that is probably because I was with you (laughs).

Sena: I think the reason I was like that is because I was with you (laughs). If I was alone, I don't think I would have gotten into all that "mischief."

Haruno: If you have to say which was which, I think I was the one saying, "Maybe you shouldn't do that... ."

Sena: Exactly!! (laughs)

Haruno: Am I wrong? (laughs) When I think about it now, there might have been times when our youthful energy showed a bit too much (laughs). When you compare with those days, we've become adults.

Sena: We have, haven't we (laughs).

Haruno: Well, but I think you've always had a mature way of thinking. If you ask why I get along with you, why I acknowledge you, it's because I know you can think like an adult. So no matter what happens, I can trust you.

Sena: Even if I don't reply to a text message?

Haruno: That's both of us (laughs).

Sena: (laughs). Because I trust you too. Even if, in the future, I hear some kind of story about you from someone, there's no way I'll be shaken by it. It's impossible. Maybe I'm taking liberties with this, but I have "the Masa-chan I trust," and that's something unshakable. I think the most important thing is what you believe and how you are trusted by other people.

Haruno: Right.

Sena: So even if there's no reply... .
Haruno: That again (laughs).

The "Masa-chan" rule

Haruno: Right now, you're the only person in the theater group who calls me "Masa-chan."

Sena: Really?

Haruno: Yup. And I have a rule. I'll be confident and believe that you still love me as long as you keep calling me "Masa-chan."

Sena: Yup (laughs).

Haruno: If you start calling me "Ms. Haruno" or something even in private, I'll know it's the end (laughs).

Sena: Actually, when you became top otokoyaku, I was conflicted. I thought I really had to call you "Ms. Haruno," but if I suddenly started calling you that, I thought it would be a huge shock for you.

Haruno: It would be shocking. But it can't be helped in public places.

Sena: But today is a torrent of "Masa-chan's," isn't it (laughs).**

Haruno: A big torrent, isn't it (laughs). Whenever you call me "Masa-chan," I think maybe I don't have to try so hard as "Sumire Haruno."

Sena: Because usually your problem is that you're too eager, right? We talked about this earlier, but you sign your text messages "Masa-chan," don't you. That's so cute (laughs).

Haruno: No matter how serious of a message it is, I always close it with "Masa-chan" (laughs). It doesn't just mean "from Masa-chan," it also includes an appeal: "Call me Masa-chan!" (laughs).

Sena: (laughs).

"Fuyu Monogatari" Private Talk

Sena: I'm happy we get to perform together in this year's TCA Special. If there was a corner for "Looking back on memorable performances," I would definitely do "Fuyu Monogatari" (laughs). We could try recreating that incident where my wig came off during the rehearsal for that show (laughs).

Haruno: It got to the point where you yelled at them for not listening (laughs). Should we have our director make an appearance and say, "Laugh as much as you want. I'm stopping the rehearsal"? (laughs)

Sena: (laughs).
Haruno: Speaking of "Fuyu Monogatari," I hurt my voice during the rehearsals, didn't I.

Sena: Oh yeah. Do you remember? After the last curtain fell, suddenly, you silently took my hand and led me to a small room backstage.

Haruno: "Where are you taking me?"
Sena: I thought, "What?! What?! What is she mad about?!" Then, as soon as we entered the room, you started crying. "My voice . . .."

Haruno: I was really depending on you, wasn't I . . ..

Sena: I kept telling you, "It's ok, it's ok" . . .. And, at that moment, I thought, "Ah, I'm already someone that Sumire Harunono, Sumirecan't live without" (laughs).

Haruno: (paroxysms of laughter).

Sena: I thought, "I'll stay by Sumire's side for my whole life" (laughs).

Haruno: Who were you acting?!

Both: (paroxysms of laughter).

Bond

Haruno: Hey, we haven't properly talked at all today, have we.

Sena: . . . . . . We haven't (laughs).

Haruno: (laughs). Asako, don't ever change. I'm glad you haven't changed . . .. Even if you're busy every day, it's amazing you don't forget to treasure what's important.

Sena: But because of that I look silly a lot too, don't I (laughs).

Haruno: I think it's wonderful. And even if you look silly, that's human, so it's good. I want you to stay just how you are. I don't think you would change though (laughs). I feel like all the people who have met you, and all the people who will meet you in the future, are really lucky (laughs). You're the kind of person who makes me think that. I'm happy that we were able to build such a strong bond.

Sena: Thank you very much. Your saying that makes me happier than anything. You're always walking one step ahead of me and unintentionally telling me the words I need to hear at that moment, aren't you. I pretend that I know your many sides better than anyone (laughs), and I've also taken the liberty of deciding "Masa-chan needs me" (laughs), so I want to continue protecting you.

Haruno: Right now, I'm so touched I have goosebumps.
Sena: I'll protect you no matter what, so please continue to guide me!

Haruno: Ok (laughs).

Concluding the Talk

Jun Sena
Sorry for appropriating "Let's Talk Passionately" (laughs). We were able to have a good time again. I'm well aware it's forward of me, but--I want to be the person who understands Masa-chan the best, and I want to be a person that Masa-chan needs. That feeling hasn't changed from the first time we met. I want our relationship to stay like this forever. From now on, I'm going to make sure I reply to my text messages, so Masa-chan, please make sure you reply to yours too! (laughs)

Overflow Talk (1)--Email

Sena: You didn't reply to that photo I emailed you the other day of my basketball scene (from "Cocktail") that was being broadcast on Sky Stage, did you?

Haruno: Ah, that completely meaningless email, right?

Sena: Right (laughs).

Haruno: Don't say "right (laughs)"!!

Sena: (laughs).

Overflow Talk (2)--Oversleeping

Haruno: Asako, you overslept this morning, didn't you (laughs).

Sena: Why do you say that?

Haruno: You overslept though, didn't you?

Sena: Fine, I did! But I hurried to get ready and got to the theater office before the time for our talk and even before you got here, didn't I?!

Haruno: Even though you had a talk with me today, you overslept?

Sena: (defiantly) So what?

Haruno: No, I was just reminded of how big a star Jun Sena is (laughs).

Sena: Come on! (laughs).

Haruno: Even though I got up early this morning and was busily trying to decide how to freshen up for you.

Sena: It's true you're quite fresh today.

Haruno: Now that you mention it, when I got to the office today, you blended in perfectly with all the men working at the office, and I didn't realize you were there at first (laughs).

Sena: All lies!! You found me right away and were grinning at me from far away, weren't you!! (laughs)

Haruno: (laughs).

Translator's Note:

To explain this line:

Sena: But today is a torrent of "Masa-chan's," isn't it (laughs).

In Japanese, instead of saying "you," it's common to say the other person's actual name. So by this point in the conversation Sena has said "Masa-chan" a lot of times, even though it doesn't show up in the translation.
