Amami Yuki's info

I would like to clarify what is the correct spelling of Amami Yuki's name? In Takawiki, it's stated as "Amami Yuuki", but in all other sites, even her Sayonara Show, it's written as Amami Yuki or Yuki Amami

Among the Japanese, there isn't really a set way to write the long vowel sounds in the Roman alphabet. Often they simply render them with one letter (which can be confusing), or use the bar over the letter to indicate it. For the TakaWiki, the editors debated and decided to write out all of the long vowel sounds, so that anyone reading the pages would know that they were there. I think the bar is more elegant, but it would have played havoc with tiki shortcuts, so.... :)

Her name in hiragana (phonetic spelling) is あまみ ゆうき, as seraeris said. If you put that sound-by-sound into Roman characters, it's A-ma-mi Yu-u-ki.

Also her page in Wikipedia writes her name : Amami YÅ«ki

the "YÅ«" with the little thing on top of "u" means that the "u" is uu

That's the only clarification
it is the way her name is written in Japanese

祐 this kanji can be read:

Japanese kun: たす(tasu).ける(keru)
Japanese on: ウ(u)、 ユウ(yuu)

she uses one of the two chinese pronunciation of this kanji
it is all in the way you say it, "yu" is a small sound when "yuu" it is an extended one
yuki: you tone on the "ki" part
yuuki: you tone on the "u" part and extend the sound of the yuu and make it last more.
I don't know if I make sense

but if u check out her sayanara show in 1995, even the name plague that hangs over the stage states "Yuki Amami". I have also never seen Yuuki written anywhere else....

can anyone clarify?

Amami is her last name and Yuuki (not yuki) is her given name
