Works as freelance photographer; her photography site is here. See here for her biography (she lists her hobby as "moving"), a full list of gallery showings, and hundreds of beautiful pictures that range from straight portrait shots to beautiful surreal images.
Has a blog called Karin Camera.
Official Instagram which is full of gorgeous shots she's taken, as well as details on her daily life with her husband in Berlin (they look stupidly happy!)

In February 2016, she did an exhibition with Ranno Hana as her subject at Gallery Small View. This started a fruitful collaborative relationship; May 2019 saw them reveal their fourth show, which Ranno wrote and Shikata photographed for Lutin's 971620 Art Gallery
She was the guest photographer on SkyStage TabiSabi programs with Tamaki Ryou and Yuzuka Rei.
At the end of 2018 she took over Japanese art gallery/book store THE ART OF SEPTEMBER in Amsterdam, where she displays her work and that of other Japanese artists (also has an instagram).
In January 2019 she married Ueno Ryo, who runs catering and "food styling" company Berlin Food Stylistics. They run that business together, with Ryo cooking and Karin taking photos for advertising and clients.
