Introductions

Currently in or coming to Japan?

Since quite a few people have been squeeing in the Introduction thread about being in Japan, I thought maybe we should have a thread where people currently in Japan or with concrete plans to go there in the future can chat. (I admit, part of me is envisioning a giant "Foreigners Go to the Theater" Day twhere we storm a local Takarazuka theater en masse and show Hankyuu that there are more non-Japanese fans than they imagine...)

So to start things off, I'm in Niigata prefecture, which means I can go see a show in Tokyo if I take a 2-hour shinkansen ride or a 5 and a half hour bus trip. Not the most convenient, but I guess it keeps me from spending all my money at the theater. ;)

It sounds like there's quite a few people over in Kansai? Going to the theater in Takarazuka is rather difficult for me since that's over 10 hours away by bus, but I hope I can visit Kansai again sometime this year. :D

(P.S. I hope it's alright to start this kind of topic here. If not, let me know and I'll move/delete it.)

This is kind of last-minute, but I forgot to post earlier in the week. Oops!

Is anyone going to raku or raku demachi tonight in Tokyo? Want to meet up? I haven't got a cell phone at the moment, alas, but even in a crowd I'm afraid I'll be fairly easy to spot. I'll be the gawky, awkward Caucasian trying to meld in with the surrounding walls. ;)

Early yet, but like Gen said last February, the sooner the better to arrange tickets. ;) Just to let folks know, I'm going to Tokyo in October. October 12 - 17, so that I can catch the Tokyo shinjin kouen of MAHOROBA/MM.

(Yaaay, go Masaki!!)

It's a really short time, but if anyone can & wants to meet up I'll likely be haunting the theater every day, and I'll definitely be at iri/demachi as often as I can with Ryuu Masaki's fanclub, which will make me embarrassingly easy to spot. #^^#

Posting way early, but if we want to arrange tickets, I suppose now is the time. :)

I will be in Kyoto/Osaka from April 18th till April 23rd (not counting travel days). I have tickets (unless TicketPia catches onto my nefarious gaijin ways) to see "Sakura/Secret Hunter" on 4/19 and 4/23.

I will probably have limited "squee"ing time, and may not be able to do a lot of iri/demachi type stuff. My husband is ever-patient, but after 6 years I've failed to make him a true Takarazuka fan, so I try to be at least relatively considerate (i.e, 2 days, not six, have been dedicated to Takarazuka). ;)

If you'll be in the area anytime between the 18th and 23rd, I'd love to meet with you. If you're interested in seeing the show on one of the above dates, no doubt my husband wouldn't mind getting off the hook. Be warned that my tickets are not super-great, and you would need to pay for yours. (I also still have time to try for fanclub tickets, if another date works better for you. I have to return the form this week, however, so you'd need to get in touch with me ASAP.)

I'm not in Kansai, I'm in Hokuriku. Or Koushinetsu, if you prefer. That's right. >proud of being stuck someplace vaguely central-north-west<

Niiice! I liked Shikoku when I got to visit it briefly. (Delicious mikan growing everywhere...) Maybe we can commiserate together about being far way from Takarazuka?

We can always hope. ;) >fantasizes about being hired to spellcheck for them

I live on Shikoku, so Tokyo is out of the question, and Osaka is also a bit of a trip (about 9 hours). ^^; But I'm seeing my first play next week, may be able to catch the new Elisabeth since I have a conference around then in Kobe, and of course planning on going when the national tour comes to Shikoku!
Chioco I'm not in Nara. My apartment is in Nara-ken which is faaaaar away from Nara-city while it's just beside the Osaka-district. So you can say I'm more in Osaka than Nara (especialy that I only sleep in my apartment spending my time at Univ or in Mura). But I've been to Nara few times and I find it quite amusing thoug it's rather rather a small city even for Japanese standards.
Linon, you're in Nara? How do you like it? And Joy is in Osaka. Great! With the exception of Mizukusa (: we're all in Kansai.

I haven't seen any performances in such a long time. In the middle of exam preparations. Until March!!

After I learned English, I realized the English lyrics are ridiculous! All Japanese English is so strange. Bilingual songwriters maybe??

Wow, bunretsu, that's a great idea!! Honestly I'm fed up with lots of spelling mistakes the company has been making. If they see a bunch of foreigners at the theater, they'll know they have to hire someone who corrects spelling errors. ^^

I'm currently studying in Tokyo and will stay here until August this year.

Because the Tokyo theater is so near, and I barely have any vacations until I leave, the chances for me to go Kansai are pretty low, but I'm thinking about a short trip in the middle of August, to see at least one performance of Tsukigumi's Mahoroba -Haruka Kanata Yamato-/ Majishan no Yuutsu before I leave Japan, but that will be a question of money.
But I'm at the Tokyo Theater at least once a week, because it's only about 20 minutes by train from my dorm.

I'm always happy to meet people who share my interest in Takarazuka so don't be afraid to ask me, if you are going to or reside in Tokyo.
Well, why not. So here it comes:
Presently I reside in Kansai area. I was granted a scholarship at Osaka Kyouiku Daigaku where I continue my research about Takarazuka to my M.A. thesis. Though as I said my apartment is two stations out of Osaka-fu what makes me live in Nara-ken however ridiculously it wouldn’t sound. I definitely not able to show up at Tokyo for Takarazuka for both distance and financial reasons. But I do quite regularly show up in the mura (for shows and other purposes). I’ll stay in Japan until the end of August or September this year (I’m not sure yet). That’s it as far as I’m concerned.
