Crecent Shop

Hi, I just placed my first order at Crecent Shop for Hanagumi's Elisabeth DVD and Soragumi's Phantom DVD, and I was just wondering how well do you rate Crecent Shop's service? Has anyone had any trouble with customs? I worry alot so that's why I'm asking so any information will help. Thank you all very very much! I'm also thinking about ordering Vampire's Requim: Seal of Roses, anyway thank you all again.

If you transfer (enough) money 'manually' from your bank account to your paypal account before you check out, the payment will be accepted and you don't need a credit card or debit card.

You can use xe.com to calculate how much money you have to transfer. The balance in your Paypal account will be in Euro, but when you check out from Crescent Shop, Paypal will automatically deduct the amount in USD.

Yes, that's correct. But 45 Euro is the limit for shipments labeled "unsolicited gift". If either sender or recipient is a business/company, the limit is 22.50 Euro... :(

In a shipment of several items, those items are duty-free whose combined value is less than 45 EUR. (Like, item A = 12 EUR, item B = 25 EUR, item C = 30 EUR => either items A & C or A & B are duty-free. If it's only one item and the value is more than 45 EUR, import duty must be paid for the *total value* of that item.)

thank you very much kya ... but I have to ask once more how it works with more items in one package ...
I ordered 2 graphs at 600 yen per item, 1 CD at 2500 yen and 2 DVDs at 8400 yen per item ........... if I understand you correctly I'll only have to pay customs for the DVDs because the other 3 intems are together 3700 yen = less than 45 euro .........is it correct???

thanks for your answer ... I think as well that swedish and german customs are similar ... so I have to add ca. 25 % ... not fair!!

Not knowing the German situation but here in Sweden you(I) also end up paying VAT (Value Added Tax) on the goods, which adds another 25% to the cost. The swedish postal service deal both with the customs fees and the tax so I pay all of that when I pick up the package.

I would suspect that the German system might be similar since both Sweden and Germany are EU countries.

For almost everything it still comes out cheaper to buy from Crescent Shop than Sound of music. Although Sound of music has some really weird pricing schemes for their Takarazuka goods, it seems sometimes to have very little to do with the original price.

All shipments from outside the EU must clear customs.
For all goods with a value of more than 45 EUR import duty must be paid, even when they're sent as *unsolicited gifts*.

The value of the goods is the transaction value, meaning: what you actually paid, not what they're labeled or "worth".
So you could try to get a fake invoice from Crescent Shop...

There's also a German shop selling Takarazuka DVDs and CD's:

http://www.soundofmusic-shop.de/

They have lots of Elisabeth stuff, plus Osa in BeruBara and Asa in Ernest in Love... But even with 20% fee and shipping and import duty Crescent Shop is probably still cheaper.

Also, if Crescent Shop lists the fee extra on the invoice, it's not included in the transaction value. Shipping costs, however, are considered part of the transaction value.

In any way, your shipment will have to clear customs. If you have to pay import duty, the customs office will send you a notice with instructions.
If GLS is processing your shipment in Germany (not DHL/Deutsche Post), or any other private parcel service, they will notify you if and how you have to pay import duty. GLS may also charge extra shipping fees.

Good Luck,

-Kya

PS: It would be interesting to know if you could get the Japanese VAT refunded... That won't work with a fake invoice, though...

There is no Pure, Proper, Beautiful DVD yet — the show was only in January. It may be released later in the year.

Regarding German customs, I'm afraid I can't help you.

Thank you for telling me that. The more good things I hear the better. I can't wait for my Elisabeth and Phantom DVDs to get here, and we must think along the same lines :D

I've been placing orders regularly through Crescent Shop for over a year now and I have nothing but praise for their reliability and courtesy. :) Oddly enough my first order was for the very two DVDs you mention — and in my second order I bought The Seal of Roses. Clearly we think along similar lines!

The only time I have ever had trouble with customs was when I had Crescent Shop send some DVDs to me in England. Horrendous duties were charged. And then my package fell into the hands of Parcelforce, or rather Parcelfarce, a company that allegedly delivers packages but has never yet been proven to do so. Misery ensued. I've never had that trouble with Crescent Shop packages sent to me in America, thank goodness.

Hi! Well, I've only ordered from Crescent Shop a few times, but I've never had any problems with them. I've never had any problems with (US) customs either.

And, OH, Seal of Roses is a wonderful show! I really recommend it!
