An old and deserted playhouse. Geronimo appears wearing a chairman-style costume, marking the beginning of a story that has remained relevant even 200 years later. It is a story colored by universal love, red like flowing blood and black like a deep shadow.
France, Napoleon died and the monarchy was restored. Born in the small southeastern city of Verrières, the son of a poor lumber worker, Julien Sorel was a beautiful young man with delicate nerves, intelligence, and a strong sense of self-esteem. Julien, who worships Napoleon, has a strong ambition to rise through the ranks and gain wealth and fame. Then, a rumor comes to him: a need for a tutor for the Renard family, the mayor of the town. Renard was competing with Varno, the director of the slums camp, and wanted to show off himself by giving his children a private tutor. The Renard family was surprised to find that Julien, who came as a tutor, was unexpectedly naive and young, but they quickly took a liking to his intelligence and began to respect and trust him.
Renard had a religious and chaste wife, Louise. Louise, who married without knowing love, feels a thrill in Julien, who is different from the men around her. Julien is also gradually captivated by her passion and beauty, but he is unable to shake off his dislike and hostility towards the upper class society. One day, Julien makes up his mind and declares his love to Louise in order to conquer her, just as his beloved Napoleon confronts the enemy. Louise accepts Julien, and the two are in love with each other, but eventually a letter arrives to Renard informing him of their relationship. When Louise is questioned by Renard, in order to save face, she throws cold words at her lover and throws Julien out of the house. Julien, who has lost the light he found in Louise, heads to Paris with a broken heart...
