Prince of Legend
“PRINCE OF LEGEND” was adapted as a television drama in 2018 and then as a film in 2019 by the production team behind the wildly popular “HiGH&LOW.” This work, which also garnered attention by adding live performances and games into the franchise, is being turned into a musical through a new collaboration between LDH JAPAN and the Takarazuka Revue. This show will serve as the debut performance of the new Cosmos Troupe top pair, Minato Sakuragi and Sakura Haruno.
Prince... what people call young men who are beautiful and noble.
Prince of Legend... a glorious position for just one man, the prince of all princes.
This is a tale of the worthy princes battling to become the Prince of Legend.
Kanade Suzaku, a student at Royal Phoenix High School, is the heir to the Suzaku Group, a corporation estimated at a worth of several trillion yen. Kanade’s late mother raised him to be intellectual and have an aristocratic nature, the perfect “prince.” Among his peers Kanade is known as the “Celebrity Prince,” adored by members of his entourage Seiichiro Kuon and Gen Kaburagi and many other students.
One day, Kanade sets out to check on Kanon Naruse at the request of his father, Toshiya Suzaku, who lives in New York. Kanon is the daughter of Toshiya’s first love, left behind after the death of her mother. She has been saddled with the debts of her own father, working at part-time jobs to make a living. Kanade goes looking for her at St. Brilliant High School, where Kanon is a student. He sees in her the spirit of his own mother, the embodiment of a princess for a prince to love. He tells Kanon that their meeting is destiny, but she blows him off, refusing to accept his idealistic view of the situation. Kanade is enraged by her attitude and becomes deeply resentful.
When Toshiya hears from his son about Kanon’s state of affairs, he hurries back home, and introduces Kanade to Takato Kyogoku, the Yankee (social rebel/bad boy) Prince of Genbu Advanced Technical High School. Toshiya tells his son that Takato is his half-brother. As the father of both boys, Toshiya’s objective is to get one of them to marry Kanon. He presents it as a game: the one who makes Kanon happy will receive the entire Suzaku fortune. Kanade goes along with the plan, determined to beat out Takato and make Kanon miserable for shunning him. But then something happens to give him a change of heart.
The approach to Kanon by the half-brothers spurs the other “princes,” all with a range of ulterior motives, to also descend on the unwitting girl. Thus, the stage for the battle of Kanon’s heart turns into St. Brilliant High School’s contest, Prince of Legend, to determine the prince among princes.
In addition to the Celebrity Prince and Yankee Prince are many more competitors: the Student Council President Prince, the Dance Prince, the Teacher Prince, and others. It's a packed crowd of princes, a huge gridlock of throbbing hearts!
Who will be named the Prince of Legend? Who will Kanon choose?
