hatsubutai (初舞台): "debut"
An actress' first appearance on the Takarazuka stage is considered her debut. Traditionally this is the line dance performed during the show finale. Although most shows have line dances, the hatsubutai line dance occurs during one performance's Takarazuka Grand Theater run in the spring, generally between March and May. There is also generally a short introduction to the new class at the beginning of the show, with the students in their signature black hakama. Some videos and DVDs contain this introduction; some older recordings do not.
