mysterious show

Hi everyone. I'm going to be working on updating the performance/year pages. I'm working on 2003, and there's show listed on that page for the old website identified only as 巌 流. It was in Bow Hall from 12/7 - 12/16. Here's the poster: http://www.takarazuka-revue.net/oldsite/promos/izuposter.jpg

Can anyone tell me the title of the show and the stars? I don't read any Japanese yet and feel very helpless...

Thanks!

> Well, it's still not that "right". If you'd like to write it totaly right it would have to be: Yōka. (In proper romanization there is no making the "o" sound long by the letter "u" althoug it is written so in hiragana when you write in Japanese. But when you pronounce: "ou" and "ō" would sound different for a Japanese person, though it would still be clear what you mean ;).

There's different systems, plus we could get into whether any romanization system is really "right", etc, etc. One of my Japanese textbooks actually used a system that indicated long vowels the way we do on the Tiki: "aa" "oo" etc.

Besides, there is no "ō" key on my keyboard. ;)

...And I'm the opposite, and tend to put their names in the "right" romanization ("Youka") no matter what the Takarazuka folks say. :)

The only trick I have for name order is to try to remember what they sound like when they introduce a show. i.e. "Soragumi no Wao Youka desu." Problem with that is musumeyaku practically never introduce shows. I still have trouble remembering if it's Aki Nagisa or Nagisa Aki. :)

For Yoka, I go by what they use on the Takarazuka Official Site and use the form without the letter 'u'.

Yeah, at this rate, the current Moon's going to be all set up before there are even pages for all of the past tops of other troupes listed! It's very impressive.

I wish I had the info to do actress pages — all these little question marks next to names are sad and annoying — but I don't have any well-organized collection of photos or anything. Also, I confess, I'm still sometimes kind of unsure which is their family name and which is their first name. -( (Youka Wao? Wao Youka? Yoka? Yuka? I keep seeing it differently everywhere... oh the newbie-ness of me.)

Thanks. Okay, I'm updating that, and then I'm GETTING OFF. I've spent three hours on here now and I've barely noticed, and I still have massive packing to do.

But now I know how to do both the year and the individual performance pages! I feel so skilled! Yay me! Seriously, given how long it took me even to learn how to italicize things in html, this is a major life achievement. *all proud*

With the powers of Jim Breen and Wikipedia combined! I declare it is...

"Satomi Hakkenden"

Oh yeah! Bring on the nihon-mono! I shall not be defeated! :)

You're no slouch yourself, with all those actress pages! I love that you're doing all the young actresses and folks that people might not know as well.

Hrm... actually, on closer inspection, that site is totally mystefying. I'm sure it will make sense next semester, or once I'm finished reading/comprehending the Wikipedia page on Japanese (one of my summer projects), but for now I am very bewildered.

To that end, how about how about a translation/romanization of this one, which starred Mizu:

里見八犬伝

Anyone?

Jim Breen is one of my personal heroes. =)

I'm also quite impressed with Ceterana's crazy work on those performance pages. 0.0 I'll stick to Actress Profiles, they're far less intimidating.....
Oh wow, how useful! That page is totally getting itself bookmarked... it won't even know what hit it.

Thank you for the information! I'm glad my data entry makes you happy! Of course, now I'm getting obsessed... first I spent half an hour getting the dates in order from beginning to end of year, now I'm antsy to get all the performance pages created, then I'd like to find the kanji and the romanizations for all the show titles...

... Yeah, it's totally TakaWiki's fault if I fail to do anything with my summer besides sit around and put double parentheses around words I don't understand. *head thunk*

That's "Ganryuu"! Wow, I didn't realize the poster was so gorgeous! *lusts*

I just wrote a review of it in my LJ like a week ago:

BTW, I recently found a really helpful online Japanese dictionary:

Go to "Translate words in Japanese text" and paste in your kanji and voila. :)

Oh look at the 2003 page! It's so beautiful! I'm so happy! :)
